The Nebraska Cornhuskers lost their punter Sam Foltz in a car accident this summer. ‘Husker Nation and many teams that have played Nebraska have made classy moves to honor the late punter for the Cornhuskers.

Shortly before the 3:30 PM ET kickoff with the Pac-12’s Oregon Ducks, the Duck staff decided to place green and yellow flowers at their 27-yard line to commemorate Foltz’s live. The No. 27 is significant as that was Foltz’s number when he punted for the Cornhuskers.

Being that they play in different parts of the country, Nebraska and Oregon rarely meet on the gridiron. However, this didn’t stop Oregon from showing the utmost respect for Nebraska’s loss.

Oregon enters this game as the No. 22 team in the nation, but Mike Riley’s Nebraska team has looked solid in their first two games of 2016 as well. The winner of this game will be in the AP Top 25 Poll entering Week 4.

Given that Nebraska has a great home-field advantage at raucous Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, the Cornhuskers are a three-point home favorite in this Big Ten/Pac-12 showdown here in Week 3.

It’s great to see two Power 5 teams schedule a strong out-of-conference opponent in the early weeks of a season. Both of these teams understand the risk of playing a worthy adversary in the non-conference: both teams can lose this game.
