ELKHORN, Neb. (WOWT) — The city of Elkhorn is a community living in solidarity after they lost one of their own. Thursday, there were already signs of support around the Graves’ neighborhood just two days after they lost their 2-year-old son.
Close friends and neighbors of the Graves family called for Elkhorn residents and Omaha residents to tie royal blue ribbons around on trees and mailboxes so that when the family returns to the Omaha area they feel a sense of solidarity. Friends and family were reluctant to speak about the heartbreaking tragedy out of respect for the family.Lane Graves was killed by an alligator while vacationing with his family in Florida.
WOWT 6 News has also learned of a local lemonade and cookie stand that will be accepting donations for the family at the Elkhorn Valley View Middle School.
Friday and Saturday, Mangelsons on 84 and center will be selling Blue Ribbons for $4.99. They are selling them as fast as they can make them!
